We at Wilcox Associates are proud to bring you this new version of PC-DMIS® 4.0 This Enterprise Metrology Solutions platform brings together new aspects of PC-DMIS® for the development of a complete manufacturing process control solution. Available in this release are variations of PC-DMIS® designed to assist with every aspect of the fabrication and quality control process. The newly created packages include PC-DMIS® Laser, PC-DMIS® NC, as well as the established PC-DMIS® Pro, PC-DMIS® CAD, and PC-DMIS® CAD++ platforms. Also included with this release is PC-DMIS® ONE, a simplified shop-floor DCC inspection package developed in cooperation with Brown & Sharpe. The testing of this version has been significant. We’d like to take a moment to discuss this process and also make you aware of the various components of testing. Testing is comprised of two parts. These can be described as functional testing and integration testing. The vast majority of testing effort goes on in the functional area. This is the testing that determines that specific functions that are core to the software, regardless of what type of machine is used, are working correctly. The integration testing is essentially a testing of the interface with a particular type of machine. In the ideal scenario, WAI would have access to at least one of every piece of hardware that is operating in the field running PC-DMIS®. However, in practical terms, this is impossible. This integration test plan is then performed on as many types of machines as we have available. Unfortunately, there will inevitably be machines to which we do not have access and that cannot be fully tested in this manner. To this end we have made an effort at closing this gap by partnering with our customers through the Beta Test Program. On the following pages you will find an application for this program. We urge you to consider signing up for the program as it provides the mutual benefit of helping us create the best product possible for you, our customer. Should you experience problems with your system after installation of PC-DMIS® 4.0, it could possibly be an integration problem. If it is a problem of this nature, it will probably be evident immediately upon first use of the possibly untested configuration. Should such a problem materialize, you will be given the highest priority for correcting these problems. Please call Tech Support immediately to report any integration problems. For existing users of PC-DMIS who currently have earlier versions of PC-DMIS® installed, it is advised that PC-DMIS 4.0® be installed into a new directory. In this way, you can be assured of continuous use of the existing version should problems arise with this newer version. ****************************************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************************************** 3) Beta Test Site Agreement Form As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the quality and ease of use of PC-DMIS®, we would like to actively involve our key customers in the development cycle. PC-DMIS® Laser – This product provides the means to use Non-Contact laser devices to collect data. Data is collected into a Cloud of Points that can later be evaluated by PC-DMIS to create auto features, scans, and constructed features. PC-DMIS® Reporting – Flexibility, capability and functionality have been added to this core PC-DMIS feature. Report templates, labels, queries, and other features make reports that provide just the information that is needed. A new reporting interface allows ease of use and improved formatting of reports. Reports can have multiple sections for which data is applied; graphics, text, summary, dimensions, features, etc. PC-DMIS® GD&T – Dimensioning is now done based upon CAD drawing notations (GD&T Callouts). This allows PC-DMIS users to capture the designer’s intent with the dimension that they specify. PC-DMIS® E-Service – Internet based support is available for PC-DMIS products. This subscription service allows a technician to view customer problems through a Webex® interface thereby improving the ability for quicker problem resolution. PC-DMIS® IP Measure - This product allows a user to import an Inspection Plan and convert it into a part program automatically. PC-DMIS/NC® - This is a specialized version of the PC-DMIS software that allows you to perform part measurements using NC machine tools. PC-DMIS® Portable – Specific functionality has been added to the core PC-DMIS product to improve the methods of using portable measuring devices. ---------------------------------------Major Enhancements--------------------------------------------- - Manual Execution Mode (User Defined Execution Order) – This allows for ultimate flexibility in Part Program execution. Features can be executed in any order. This is the default mode for manual machines and not used for DCC machines. This is particularly useful for Portable devices. - In Manual Execution Mode, PC-DMIS would actively update a list of features to show features that have been measured. The probe is used to indicate the next feature and PC-DMIS will automatically recognize the correct feature from the list. - Reporting Templates can be created using template creation tools. This template is applied to your Part Program, resulting in the custom report that you need. - Reporting Labels can be created in a similar fashion to templates. Labels provide information about how a particular type of command should report its data on the report. - Parsing process to determine how and where items are reported. Items that are to be part of the report are added to the section, label, etc that applies to that type of item. - User assigned properties for reports can be specified by the user via a prompt. A check box will specify those parameters that need to be specified. - Report Printing has greater capability to handle complex reports. - A simplified PC-DMIS user interface is available for situations when minimal training would be beneficial. Ease of use is provided for users that don’t want or need advanced PC-DMIS training. - DMIS Support to allow for more flexible DMIS export from PC-DMIS off-line. This should allow a user to program their non PC-DMIS driven CMM’s with PC-DMIS off-line. - Manual Flexible Fixturing (5Unique) support added. - Improved control over the way that Dimensions are used and displayed. - Settings Window provides a quick way to change common settings that are normally accessed from the Parameter Settings dialog box. - Cloud of Points (COP) was developed for use with Laser scans.
